High-Precision Thermocouple Slip Rings (Type K, J, T, E, RTD)
Eliminate temperature measurement drift on rotating shafts, rollers, and heated molds. Designed with matched thermocouple extension alloys and precious metal brush contacts to ensure true micro-volt signal continuity without thermal EMF noise.
Why Standard Slip Rings Fail in Temperature Measurement
A thermocouple generates a tiny voltage (microvolts, µV) proportional to the temperature difference between its hot junction and cold junction. When standard copper or brass slip rings are inserted into the thermocouple circuit, the contact between dissimilar metals creates additional internal Seebeck junctions.
As the shaft rotates, friction generates heat inside the slip ring housing. This temperature gradient across dissimilar metal contacts creates Parasitic Thermal EMF (stray voltage), causing temperature controller readings to drift wildly by 5°C to 30°C.
Standard Slip Rings (Unsuitable)
- Copper ring tracks create unwanted Seebeck voltage junctions.
- Frictional heating causes significant temperature reading drift.
- High electrical contact noise (> 20 mΩ) distorts micro-volt signals.
- Requires constant recalibration or external transmitter units.
JARCH Thermocouple Solution (Precision)
- Rings & leads crafted from actual thermocouple alloys (e.g., Chromel/Alumel).
- Parasitic EMF suppressed to < 2 µV across wide temperature spans.
- Gold-on-gold fiber brush technology keeps contact resistance < 5 mΩ.
- Direct connection from rotary sensor to stationary temperature controller.
Supported Sensor Types & Alloy Configurations
JARCH manufactures dedicated conductor channels matching the exact thermoelectric characteristics of your sensors:

Hybrid Customization: Power, Signals & Mechanical Mounts
In practical machinery, rotating shafts rarely carry sensor wires alone. JARCH specializes in fully integrated hybrid slip rings that combine multiple transmission requirements in a single assembly:
1. Heater Power Channels
Integrate 10A, 20A, 30A, or up to 100A+ power circuits for heating bands, cartridge heaters, and induction elements alongside sensitive sensor channels.
2. Through-Bore Structure
Central hollow shaft bore sizes (12.7mm, 25.4mm, 38.1mm, 50mm, up to 200mm) allowing passage of hydraulic lines, pneumatic pipes, or drive shafts.
3. High Environmental Sealing
Ruggedized aluminum or stainless steel 304/316 housings with IP65 or IP67 ingress protection against dust, water spray, and oil mist.
4. High Temperature Isolation
Special internal heat insulation barriers allowing operation in ambient surroundings up to +150°C (+302°F) near hot rollers and furnaces.
